Jolanta Lange without distinction. Now she got a call from Nawrocki

In late July, Andrzej Duda stripped Jolanta Lange of the Silver Cross of Merit, which she received in 1997. Now the sociologist received a letter from the law firm of president Karol Nawrocki. She got 7 days to respond.


Let us remind that Jolanta Lange (primo voto Gontarczyk) was awarded the Silver Cross of Merit for "excellent social activity". However, according to regulations, the president may remove specified a person's order, "if the decorated performs an act that renders him unworthy of distinction."

Nawrocki's law firm demands the return of the medal from Jolanta Lange

Such a step towards Lange was taken at the end of July by Andrzej Duda – practically at the end of his presidency. Now that president Karol Nawrocki, the minister from his Chancellery Agnieszka Jędrzak, informed on social media that on behalf of Nawrocki she had sent a letter to Jolanta Lange, demanding the return of the Silver Cross of Merit granted to her in 1997.



Lange has 7 days to return the award with his ID. Otherwise, the President's Office will file a lawsuit.

Why did Jolancie Lange receive the award?

As we wrote in Thematics, the decision to collect the honour of Jolanta Lange was made after the petition came to the President. Its author was Piotr Woyciechowski, who pointed to "the acts committed by the mentioned individual who made it unworthy of the state discrimination of the Polish Republic".

Wojciechowski wrote in a petition that Jolanta Lange "was actively cooperating with the apparatus of repression of the communist state from 1977 to 1990". The Sociologist was to act as a secret associate of the Łódź safety Service under the pseudonym "Miss". And then "after being transferred as part of an intelligence operation with the code name 'YON' to West Germany as an agent of Department I SB under the same alias". Wojciechowski besides reminded in the petition about the death of Fr Franciszek Blachnicki. The clergyman died abruptly on 27 February 1987 in Carlsberg, Germany.

Years later, the investigation was resumed. As Nawrocki said in 2023: "Today we know that Fr Blachnicki was murdered". In this petition, Wojciechowski stressed that without information provided by Jolanta Gontarczyk on the life and wellness of Fr Franciszek Blachnicki, it would not be possible to plan his poisoning.
