There's an expert opinion on the doctor's killer in the Kraków hospital. Won't he go to jail?

The Krakow prosecution confirmed that Jarosław W., accused of brutal killing of orthopedics from the University Hospital, acted in a state of complete insanity – according to expert psychiatrists.

Thus, the proceedings may be dismissed, and the man will not go to prison, but to a closed intellectual institution. Investigators stress that the intellectual state of Jarosław W. and his illness carries a advanced hazard that he would again commit acts of violence.

The tragedy occurred on 29 April this year. A 35-year-old prisoner of the Prison Service officer entered the office of 47-year-old Dr. Tomasz Solecki, orthopedist of the Kraków University Hospital, and stabbed the doctor respective times, injuring the nurse. Despite immediate help, the medic died. The perpetrators were charged with execution and attempted execution of a nurse.

The shocking attack echoed in the medical community – hospitals across the country paid tribute to the murdered doctor. After it was revealed that irregularities in Jarosław W.'s work had been signalled since 2020, Colonel Andrzej Peck, director-general of the Prison Service, was recalled.
