There's an indictment against Antoni Macerewicz. In the background of Smolensk disaster

Prosecutor from Investigation Group No. 4 of the National Prosecutor's Office directed the indictment against Antoni Macierewicz to the territory Court in Warsaw. The erstwhile head of the MON was to disclose classified information. He's facing imprisonment for a fewer years.


"Antoni Macierewicz was accused of being a public officer – the president of the Subcommittee for the Reinvestigation of Air Accidents and a associate of the Committee on Aviation Accidents Investigations – revealed classified information about 'Highly Secret', 'Secret', 'confidential' and 'Restricted' clauses between 11 April 2018 and 22 May 2022," says Proc. Przemysław Nowak, spokesperson for the National Prosecutor's Office.

From the letter, we find that the MP of Law and Justice was to supply the public with the information he gained through his function in the subcommittee and committee. These included the circumstances of the Tu-154 plane crash in Smolensk. Macierewicz is facing imprisonment for up to 5 years.

In January 2018, Macerewicz was appointed by Mariusz Błaszczak as president of the Subcommittee on the Reinvestigation of Air Accident under Smolensk.

Let us add that on Monday (15 December) the prosecutor from Investigation squad No. 4 of the National Prosecutor's Office dropped the investigation into the excess of powers by members of the Subcommittee to re-examine the air accident of April 10, 2010 and the failure of the head of the MON.
