We cannot quit China – Huang's appeal
Jensen Huang, president of the American semiconductor giant Nvidia, warned on December 4, 2025 that The United States risks losing its lead in the race for artificial intelligenceIf they inactive are withdraw from the Chinese market. Speaking at an event organised by Center for strategical and global Studies in Washington, Huang stated:
‘China [as a market] cannot be replaced. We shouldn't give them the full market... we must fight for it."
According to Huang, the current export regulation policy for advanced AI systems – specified as H100 chips – in fact facilitates Chinese companies, especially Huawei, to build their own competitive technologies. These, after puberty, can stay exported on a global scale – creating a circumstantial ‘Pas and AI Trail’, analogous to the infrastructure initiative “Pas and Trail” by president Xi Jinping.
Huawei – “one of the most powerful technology companies”
Huang pointed out that Huawei should be treated as a serious rival:
"We should besides recognise that Huawei is 1 of the most powerful technology companies always created in the world. They are agile, fast and highly effective."
In his opinion, the Chinese strategy is Rapid deployment of technologies in developing countriesto build an ecosystem in line with Chinese standardsBefore Western companies can react. "The sooner they get there, the faster they become irreplaceable players," he added.
Energy crisis of data centres
Huang besides stressed that China has an advantage in accessing energywhich is crucial for the improvement of AI:
"China has twice as much energy as we do, and our economy is bigger. It doesn't make sense."
Against rapid increase in energy request in AI data centresHuang called the USA to speeding up the improvement of atomic power. In his opinion, the United States "should usage any form of energy possible", including nuclear.
He mentioned four executive regulations by Donald Trump of May 2025which aim quadruple increase in atomic power to 400 GW by 2050.
Market share decline and uncertain future of H20
Earlier U.S. administration activities importantly weakened Nvidia's position in China. After the constraints introduced by Biden's administration, the company developed specifically for this marketplace H20 system – cut H100 version.
April 2025 Trump administration began to require a licence to export itand in exchange for consent Nvidia agreed to transfer 15% of the gross from these sales to the State Treasury.
However, In September, the Chinese authorities accused Nvidia of violating antitrust law, which, according to Huang, caused decrease in marketplace share of the company from 95% to virtually zero.
Currently Nvidia expects a decision from the U.S. government, while Huawei and another Chinese companies introduce their own systems, specified as Ascend 910Bwhich, although little efficient, are completely independent of American technology.
Competition, not isolation
In conclusion, Huang called for Competition strategy, not isolation:
"If we do not act in China, others will. And then these technologies will go to Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America... and it will not be Western technology."
His message is simply a clear signal that global technological advantage is not given erstwhile and for all – and the key to keeping it is presence on the most crucial markets in the world, including China.
