Nvidia outside China – losses and fresh prospects

Jensen Huang, president of the American semiconductor giant Nvidia, stated during a conference in Washington DC that losing access to the Chinese marketplace harms the United States more than China. In fresh years, the US administration has introduced increasingly severe export restrictions on advanced AI systems, including Nvidia chips, to China – these decisions have been intensified under Donald Trump.

"We want to compete with China, there is no uncertainty about it. We want America to win the race for artificial intelligence – but we should be in China to get their programmers. A policy that cuts America off from half the world's AI creators is not beneficial in the long term," Huang said.

Market share decline and regulatory conflict

As a consequence of the U.S. government's decision and the reaction of Chinese regulators, Nvidia's marketplace share in China fell from 95% to zero. In October 2025, Chinese authorities accused the company of violating antitrust law after the Trump administration concluded a revenue-sharing agreement with Nvidia allowing H20 chips to be exported to China provided 15% of the profits go to the state Treasury.

“Our occupation is to wait until they want us to be there,” said Huang, adding that the shares of Chinese chip producers increased sharply due to the withdrawal of Nvidia – which should be a signal for Washington.

Half a trillion dollars in gross – without China and Asia

Despite the failure of the Chinese market, Nvidia presents ambitious forecasts. Huang announced that the company expects $500 billion in gross from Blackwell platforms and early versions of Rubin – a fresh generation of computing systems – by the end of 2026. "This does not include China and Asia. It's just the West," he stressed.

The company intensifys cooperation with the national safety sector: it announced a partnership with the Palantir Technologies arms company and develops 6G telecommunications systems based on AI for the US government.

Additionally, Nvidia began mass production of Blackwell chips across the US in collaboration with TSMC. CoWoS packaging technology will be implemented in factories in Arizona in the coming months.

The War for Talents and the Future of AI

Huang warned against the hazard of losing the race for AI talents. "Can the United States be overtaken by China? Absolutely. 50% of planet AI researchers are Chinese," he said.

He pointed out the Trump administration's immigration policy, which makes it hard to stay qualified in the US by tightening the H-1B visa rules and roads to permanent residence. In response, Nvidia decided to cover US$100,000 for each H-1B visa for its employees.

"It is very crucial that the United States continues to be a country to which immigrants – like me – want to come to learn, build a career and live," he added.

Hopes for an agreement at the APEC Summit

In the context of the APEC Summit in South Korea and Donald Trump's gathering with Xi Jinping, Huang expressed optimism about the anticipation of an agreement. Energy Secretary Chris Wright, who attended the same session, stated: “I hope that there will be an agreement that will benefit the US and the world.”

Huang refused to comment on whether his return to China would be part of the trade negotiations, but stated: “There will be many meetings and announcements. president Trump knows these announcements.”
