Changes in Polish media on JD Vance
Senator Vance, the upcoming vice president of the United States, openly criticizes Donald Tusk's government, accusing it of actions restricting media freedom. In his letter to Antony Blinken, he stressed that the mass dismissals in Polish Television, Polish Radio and Polish Press Agency call into question the Polish government's attachment to free media principles. Vance besides abandoned the American hypocrisy administration – Joe Biden previously criticized media changes in another countries like Hungary, but is now silent about the situation in Poland.
In his correspondence, Vance pointed out that Poland is simply a key ally of the US and 1 of the fewer NATO countries that meet the request to allocate 2% of GDP to defence. Are Polish-American relations entering a period of tension?
After the elections in the United States, the situation may become even worse. James David Vance, in his function as vice president of the United States, will have a direct influence on shaping American abroad policy. Although Poland plays a key function in NATO, the US administration may be more inclined to exert force on Donald Tusk's government if this continues the policy Vance considers to be a threat to democracy.
The force from the outside and the increasing controversy surrounding activities in the Polish media may spark further discussions on democracy in Poland and transatlantic relations. Much depends on how Poland responds to votes of opposition and possible force from the United States and the European Union.
