Japan modernizes ports and airports

The selected facilities are to be equipped with longer runways and additional waterfronts. This is intended to increase the capabilities and scope of the nipponese Self-defense Forces. The work will besides cover Ishigaki in Okinawa, **which is located about 230 kilometres (300 km) east of Taiwan**.
