John Under the Cross
I stand under the cross, my heart bleeds,
erstwhile I look at your face, with pain.
My friend and Master, King of all things,
In a tree of shame, with a soul tormented.
Everyone left you in fear,
I stayed, sharing the pain of being.
Mary, Mother, in your eyes of tears,
I see the reflection of the universe of longing.
I know it's not over, it's the beginning,
A fresh kingdom, in the hearts of mankind.
Your victim, the key to eternity.
My king, in this silence, under thy cross,
I give myself up, and in obedience,
Until the day comes and I meet you again.
