What rise for the soldiers?

The parliament passed the state budget for 2026. More money will be spent not only to upgrade the army, but besides to rise troops. The base amount will increase by 3%, which will make the average military wage somewhat more than PLN 10 thousand. Detailed rates will be laid down in the Ministry of Defence Regulation.

The 2026 budget adopted by the Sejm provides for evidence defence spending of as much as PLN 20.1 billion. In addition to the money allocated to investments in equipment and modernization of the army, funds for higher salaries for professional soldiers were besides saved. According to the Budget Act, 3% (from PLN 2193.21 to PLN 2259.11) will increase the basic amount, which is 1 of the components of military basic salaries. The second component of the wage is the multiplier (multiple base amount) presently of 4.43. After an increase in the basic amount, the average wage of professional soldiers will be just over PLN 10 1000 gross.

The increase will scope respective 100 zlotys, estimated from about 200 to more than 600 zlotys, depending, among others, on the level of military and post. The detailed amounts of basic salaries for the various grades and groups will be laid down in the national defence minister's regulation.

“This increase protects against inflation and is simply a warrant that the standard of surviving of military families will not deteriorate,” said Colonel Krzysztof Jewgiejuk, president of the Bureau of Professional Soldiers’ Representation Bodies. As he adds, it is crucial that there is inactive money in the budget despite the immense spending on the modernisation programme for the soldiers. "In the face of the current geopolitical situation and the challenges facing the army, each gold in defence is watched 3 times. Therefore, we must balance the needs – on the 1 hand the concern for the soldier, on the another hand the request to rapidly strengthen the combat capabilities – the officer notes.

Colonel Yevgiejuk besides stresses that another solutions beneficial to soldiers, which are being developed in the Ministry of Defence, must not be forgotten. First, raising the amount of housing benefit up to a minimum of PLN 900 in those garrisons, where it is presently lower. – The second issue is the anticipation of paying house checks while on duty. Work and analysis are inactive ongoing, but we hope that this case, very much expected by the environment, will find its final in the coming year," says the Colonel.

The fresh wage rates are to enter into force as the year begins. Higher salaries will begin to be paid by the end of the first 4th with an equalization from the fresh year.
