The event organised by the Lewiatan Europe squad brought together representatives of companies from various sectors of the economy. The advanced turnout confirmed the strong interest of entrepreneurs to be actively active in decision-making processes at EU level.
European Agenda and Commission plans
The gathering was chaired by Małgorzata Mroczkowska-Horne, Director-General of the Confederation of Leviathan, who highlighted the request for dialog on the European agenda and its impact on business. Katarzyna Smyk presented the European Commission's plans for the coming months, paying peculiar attention to the opportunities offered by public consultations by the EU institutions and their importance to the business environment.
Practical tools for influencing EU law
The Head of Delegation discussed applicable ways of communicating effectively with the European Commission. She presented available consultation channels and tools to enable entrepreneurs to participate actively in the legislative process. She stressed that the engagement of companies at an early phase in the drafting of government allows for a real impact on their final form – much more effectively than the actions undertaken in the later phases of the process. Participants besides received applicable information on how to usage the Commission's consultation platforms and how to prepare business positions that can be taken into account by EU legislators.
Support for Polish business
Katarzyna Smyk assured the constant support of the European Commission Representation in Poland for the business environment. It encouraged entrepreneurs to have a regular dialog with representatives of the EU institutions on EU policies affecting economical activity.
About the challenges facing Polish business
During the moderated discussion, participants asked about circumstantial challenges facing Polish companies. The talks afraid both current legislative initiatives of the European Commission and long-term strategies strengthening the representation of interests of Polish entrepreneurs in the EU institutions.
European dialog in Leviathan continues
The gathering was organised by the Lewiatan Europe squad as another of a series of events devoted to the EU theme. Cyclical meetings initiated by Poland in connection with the presidency of the EU Council – originally known as Meetings with the Presidency – will proceed to let companies to contact experts and representatives of national and EU administrations.
