The fresh government wanted to make changes by resolution
The current opposition, and so the PiS, is outraged that the fresh parliamentary majority wants to make personnel changes in the TVP by a resolution. On 7 January 2016, the amendment was published in the diary of Laws. Janusz Daszczyński resigned earlier, who had been elected by the Supervisory Board in a three-stage competition a fewer months earlier.
Key amendment of the Article of the Broadcasting Act
The acquisition of control over public media enabled the Law and Justice to amend Articles 27 and 28 of the Broadcasting Act. This made the minister of the treasure cast the board of radio and television. At the same time, the National Broadcasting Council was deprived of this power, which had previously made its choice at the request of the Supervisory Board. The KRRiT was de facto marginalized. The Minister of the Treasury was besides liable for filling positions in supervisory boards. According to the newspaperprądna.pl, "a tiny amendment thus deleted the authorities of all 19 public broadcasting companies, and the Treasury department immediately placed vacant positions with trusted people".
The problem with the fresh government coalition is that due to the fact that we are now dealing with a Polish political strategy with co-habitation, and president Duda has already announced that he does not support changes in public media, there is in fact no chance to push anything in this substance through the bill. Meanwhile, following the adoption of the resolution by the Sejm, without the presence of many PiS MPs who were already in Voronica at the time, the business of the building by right-wing politicians began at the office of TVP. A fresh government that does not hide that 1 of the priorities for it are changes in TVP, now has a hard nut to crack how to solve this issue.
