You don't request to be an expert to know that Europe without the US is practically susceptible – and not just due to its own fault. After the creation of NATO, European countries made the impression that they were armored, and the US pretended not to see the appearance.
We should thank Trump for forcing Europe to act on its own defence. This is the only affirmative effect of his policy.
But the question remains: how should European leaders respond to Trump's increasingly unpredictable actions?
The populists have no problem with that – they are uncritically up Trump's ass and feel comfortable in this role. erstwhile Trump suggested that the SAFE programme could reduce Polish defence spending in the USA, Karol Nawrocki almost immediately vetoed a bill expanding Poland's security.
But what should independent European leaders do?
Despite the increasing challenges arising from Trump's policy style, European politicians are mostly dependent on it and have no choice but to stay faithful to Trump. They led to this state.
If they want to keep their face, they can limit themselves to restraint – Trump is simply a grace to flattery, but he will not necessarily respond aggressively to their lack.
