Presidential election 2025. How do you vote outside your home?
In the upcoming presidential elections in 2025, Polish citizens have the chance to vote outside their permanent residence. To this end, 3 main procedures are foreseen: a one-time change in the voting place, a list of voters and a certificate of voting rights.
Persons residing abroad may vote in Polish diplomatic missions. It is crucial to meet the deadlines for submitting applications and early completion of the formalities with electoral powers.
One-off change in voting place
The authoritative government website gov.pl contains information on the anticipation of a one-time change of voting place for voters who will stay outside of the residence on election day. The application can be made in 2 ways:
- online – through a trusted profile on the gov.pl platform, entering the address at which the voter will be staying on election day. He will be assigned to the applicable electoral commission,
- personally – at the office of the city or municipality in which it is presently present.
Applications may be submitted from 4 April to 15 May 2025. The deadline is 3 days before the election, which is until 15 May 2025.
How to sign up for the voter list?
Permanent residents of a place another than the address of the check-in may enter the list of voters at the place of actual residence.

To do this, you should submit an application to the municipal office (personally or online through trusted profile). After a affirmative examination of the application, the voter will be entered in the list of voters at the fresh place of residence.
Obtaining a certificate of voting rights
People who will be staying in a different place on election day but who do not want or cannot change the voting place can usage certificates of voting rights. This paper allows to vote at any polling place in Poland or abroad.
For certification:
- an application must be submitted to the municipal office where the voter is included in the electoral register,
- the application may be submitted in individual or through a proxy,
- the certificate shall be received in individual or may be received by the authorised person.

How is the vote going abroad?
Polish citizens surviving abroad besides have the right to participate in presidential elections.
Persons voting abroad must:
- vote – you can do this online via gov.pl platform and trusted profile (if the option is activated) or personally in the consulate,
- sign up for the list of voters abroad – this requires an application to the consular post concerned,
- to talk in individual – the vote takes place at designated polling stations specified as embassies, consulates or another diplomatic missions.
