The Russian opposition portal Sibir.Realiy analyzed reports from state news agencies and press releases of the FSB of 2023 concerning the prosecution of Russians and foreigners in matters of treason, espionage and cooperation with abroad states or organizations. According to the editorial board's calculations - within 12 months - the FSB has initiated at least 148 criminal cases. According to estimates, over the past year, the FSB has launched 98 treason articles, 31 espionage cases and 19 cases involving secret cooperation with foreigners. In the case of 20% of them, the Russian safety services did not supply information on the reasons for the arrest.
