Jacek Ozoba interrupted Bodnar. He spoke of a “state coup”

“This is my time, not yours”

On Thursday in Brussels, the LIBE committee in the European Parliament listened to the Minister of the Interior Tomasz Siemoniak and the Minister of Justice and lawyer General Adam Bodnar, who presented the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the EU Council for the current half-year.

Then representatives of various political groups spoke and asked questions. On behalf of the European Conservatives and Reformers (ECR), Jacek Ozoba spoke, but after 2 sentences, the president of LIBE Javier Zarzalejos (European People's Party) cut him off.

The ornament shouted to Bodnar:

A individual who breaks the regulation of law cannot talk of the definition of the regulation of law. Let us remind you that you are a individual suspected of a coup in Poland. Article 127 threatens you for up to 10 years in prison.

Polish politician opposed the intervention of president LIBE, who in consequence threatened to expel him. Nevertheless, the decoration continued to disrupt the meeting, interrupting the next speaker. In response, the president called on him to stay silent and announced that the substance of the president of the European Parliament should be raised.

During a discussion between the Minister of Justice and the media in the corridor in the European Parliament, Ozdoba interrupted his statement, justifying his action by not answering the questions. Bodnar responded kindly, shook his hand, and withdrew. However, the decoration continued to attack and told journalists:

[Bodnar – ed.] He escapes due to the fact that he breaks the law and commits a coup. besides bad the lawyer General is afraid of Euro MPs. He's afraid of being taken over by the TVP, of trespassing on the KRS. He's afraid due to the fact that they're not following the ultimate Court decisions.

In a message sent to PAP, the MEP denied that he was disrupting the proceedings. He stressed that his microphone had been deactivated illegally, which violated his right to speak.

What was the "state attack" about?

Jacek Ozoba in his statements referred to a circumstantial investigation into the suspicion of a coup which was initiated by prosecutor Michał Ostrowski.

The president of the Constitutional Tribunal Bogdan Świętczkowski informed that Ostrowski, acting as Deputy lawyer General, took action after his notification. The investigation concerns Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Speakers of the Sejm and Senate, Head of the Government Legislative Center, and any judges and prosecutors. Among possible suspects are Adam Bodnar.

Michał Ostrowski was appointed Deputy lawyer General in November 2023 by then Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki.
