The Israeli army reported that on Tuesday on her raid on Tehran Daud Zalizadeh, the highest-ranking Iranian commander in charge of the Lebanon operations, was killed. In addition to the attacks on Iran, Israel is besides fighting the Lebanese-backed Hezbollah.

Zalizadeh was the interim head of the Lebanon Al-Kuds Force Command, an elite unit of the muslim Revolutionary defender Corps (IRGC).

Hezbollah is simply a Shiite armed group that erstwhile controlled the south of Lebanon, creating a quasi-state there. The organization was importantly weakened in 2024, during the last of a series of wars fought with Israel.

Founded in 1982, the movement was inspired by the Iranian muslim Revolution and works closely with the government in Tehran.
