Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu present stated that the business of Beaufort Castle in confederate Lebanon was a “decisive turning point” in the offensive against Hezbollah in the neighboring country. Previously, the Israeli army announced an extension of the operation to areas north of the Litani River.
– And now my instructions are to deepen and grow our control of the areas that were under Hezbollah's control," Netanjah stated in a video recorded by his office.
Earlier on Sunday, Israeli defence minister Israel Kac reported that his country's troops would be stationed at Beaufort Castle as part of a fresh safety region in confederate Lebanon.
– 26 years after withdrawing from the safety region in Lebanon, the Israeli flag is again flying over the summits rising over the communities of Galilee," said Kac at a ceremony commemorating the fallen soldiers in the First Lebanese War in 1982.
The Israeli army reported on Sunday on Platform X that it had started operations in the Beaufort and Wadi al-Salka areas in the south of Lebanon a fewer days earlier. Their aim is "to destruct terrorist infrastructure, destruct terrorists and remove direct threats to Israeli civilians".
A spokesperson for the Israeli army, Aviraj Adrai, reported that the soldiers occupied a strategically located hill on which the Beaufort castle is located, erected in the 12th century by crusaders. On platform X, he published a photograph of Israeli soldiers in front of the castle. Israel controlled this fortress for 18 years after its capture during the Lebanese War, until the withdrawal of troops from Lebanon in 2000.
The Times of Israel portal reported on Sunday that an Israeli soldier was killed in the attack of Dron Hezbollah in confederate Lebanon.
