Donald Tusk reacted to Andrzej Duda's decision on Robert Bąkiewicz. The president exercised the right of grace and partially pardoned the controversial right-wing activist. The Prime Minister warned that this motion of the outgoing head of state was a serious political signal.

"Bąkiewicz's pardon by president Duda is not only a scandal in the human moral dimension. It is besides a political signal that this full team, together with Nawrock, Kaczyński and Braun, will not back distant from anything to regain power. It's time everyone understood," wrote Donald Tusk.

The Prime Minister responded to the decision of Duda Ws. Bąkiewicz

Let us remind that Bąkiewicz in November 3, 2023 was legally convicted of violating the physical immunity of the activist. The punishment was to be a year of restrictions on freedom in the form of free social work in the amount of 30 hours per period and a payment of PLN 10 1000 to the victim. An act of grace included the punishment of restrictions on freedom.

On 10 July, Adam Bodnar repealed the decision which was made during the PiS regulation to suspend the punishment against Bąkiewicz. In the opinion of the Minister of Justice and the lawyer General, there are no longer grounds for Bąkiewicz to proceed to enjoy this privilege.

"However, the erstwhile lawyer General initiated a pardon procedure and suspended the execution of the sentence. The President's decision to pardon has not yet been made. As a result, the final judgement has not been enforced for a year and a half. At the same time, we all see how the convicted individual behaves after the sentence" argued Bodnar.

On the President's Chancellery website, a message was published on Tuesday (15 July). "The president of the Republic of Poland made a decision of 11 July 2025 to apply the right of grace to 1 person" - was informed.

From the communication we besides learn what motives led Andrzej Duda. "The president of the Republic of Poland, erstwhile deciding to exercise the right of grace, had in mind, among others: affirmative environmental opinion, the incidental nature of the act, a unchangeable lifestyle" - mentioned.
