During the Polish-Bolshevik War 700 soldiers of the 18th Infantry Division were awarded the conflict Cross and 168 received the Virtuti Militari. 1001 soldiers and 53 officers were killed. The unit, from the Blue Haller Army, composed of prisoners of war from the Italian front and Poles returning from emigration, and commanded by the Czech Republic, General Franciszek Krajowski, began to stand out during the Kiev expedition. Her soldiers specialized in battles with the previously unstoppable Konarmia Budionny, and they utilized this experience during the Warszawski conflict to keep the left wing of the Polish troops. The 18th Division has besides frequently collaborated with armed formations of allied nations in the east - Ukrainian and Belarusian.
