Iran has since the 1979 muslim Revolution been recognized as the largest state-owned terrorist sponsor in the world. The Ayatollah government does not lead classical conventional wars, but operates through the muslim Revolution defender Corps (IRGC), and especially its elite unit – the Quds Force (Quds Force). It is simply a tool to export revolutions, destabilise the region and destruct opponents abroad. IRGC and Quds Force are officially designated as terrorist organizations by the US (since 2019), Canada, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and since February 2026 besides by the European Union
Iran does not send its own troops to the front, but it finances, arms and directs dozens of terrorist groups and militias (totally billions of dollars a year). Key examples:Hezbollah (Lebanon): Iran's strongest proxy. Founded and armed by the IRGC in the 1980s. liable for the bombing of U.S. Marine barracks in Beirut (1983, 241 killed Americans) and French paratroopers (58 killed). Attacks on Israel (war 2006), precision rockets and drones. By 2023–2024 Hezbollah had 130–200,000 rockets. After October 7, 2023, Israel was shelled daily.
Hamas and Palestinian muslim Jihad (Gaza) Iran provides rockets, drones and funds. The attack on October 7, 2023 (more than 1,200 Israelis killed, 250 hostages) was the biggest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Iran did not plan it directly, but has been enabling it for years.
Huti (Jemen – Ansar Allah): From 2014 Iran has been supplying ballistic missiles and drones. Attacks on Saudi Arabia, UAE and Red Sea Shipping (since November 2023). In 2024–2025 they fired more than 100 missiles towards Israel. Global shipping blockade.
Shiite militias in Iraq (Kataib Hezbollah, Asaib Ahl al-Haq, Harakat al-Nujaba) and Syria: Attacks on US Bases (2019–2020 and later), support for Assad. In December 2019, Kataib Hezbollah killed an American contractor – this straight led to Soleimani's liquidation.

Who was Qas Soleimani, and why was he killed?
Qasem Soleimani (born 11 March 1957, born 3 January 2020) was an Iranian general-major, commander of the Quds IRGC Force from 1998 until his death. Considered to be 1 of the most powerful figures of the regime—the "right hand" of the ultimate Leader Ali Chamenei—and the architect of the Iranian opposition strategy "axes" (Hezbollah, Hamas, Huti, Shiite militias in Iraq and Syria).
Soleimani personally supervised arms deliveries, training and proxy financing.
Attacks on US and coalition forces in Iraq (2003–2011 and 2018–2020) – According to the U.S., his actions caused over 600 Americans to die.
Operations in Syria (supporting Assad and Russian intervention).
Coordination of Hezbollah attacks on Israel and Houthis on Saudi Arabia and shipping.
The U.S., EU and UN considered him a savage terrorist. On 3 January 2020, in Baghdad (Iraq) he died in a precise stroke with a US drone at the command of president Donald Trump (together with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, commander of Qatar Hezbollah). authoritative reason: Soleimani "was actively planning attacks on American diplomats and soldiers in Iraq and the full region" – among others, after the Kataib Hezbollah rocket attack on K1 base (December 2019, the death of an American contractor).
The Iranian government called it “an act of state terrorism”, organized mass funerals and fired rockets towards American bases in Iraq (injuring about 110 soldiers). Soleimani became a martyr in Iran, but his death severely weakened the coordination of the proxy (although it did not end IRGC).
Iran denies direct commitment, but Quds Force coordinates everything. After 7 October 2023, Iran launched a "multi-part war" (Gaza, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Syria), but after the weakening of Hamas and Hezbollah (2024–2025) and the collapse of Assad in Syria, the proxy network is partially damaged.
Iranian terrorism in Europe is the assassination, kidnapping and repression of the IRGC and the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) against dissidents, journalists, Jews and Israel. Since 1979 Iran has carried out or planned dozens of operations on the Old Continent (more than 100 documented cases). Growth after 2018 and especially after 2021 – more than half between 2021 and 2024.
Key examples:2018 – Paris (France/Belgium/Germany): Iranian diplomat Assadollah Assadi (an embassy individual in Vienna) provided explosives for the assassination of the large opposition rally (MEK/NCRI) in Villepinte close Paris. Hundreds (including European politicians) could have been killed. Assadi sentenced to 20 years in prison in Belgium. France has frozen Iranian assets.
Germany: In 2018, 10 Qds Force agents were arrested spying on judaic and Israeli targets. In 2021–2025, IRGC hired members of the Hells Angels and another gangs to plan attacks on synagogues (Bochum, Essen) and Jews. In 2025, processes revealed Iranian backing and travel to Iran.
Albania: Multiple Plans for MEK Camp (Ashraf 3). In 2018, 2 Iranian diplomats were expelled for preparing a bomb attack on Nowruz. In 2020 and later, another rumor.
Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, UK: Attacks on Dissidents (e.g. Masih Alinejad in the US, but related to Europe; journalists Iran global in London). In 2024–2025, the Dutch AIVD accused Iran of attempting to assassinate an activist in Haarlem and linked to the assassination of Spanish politician Alejo Vidal-Quadras. MI5 (UK) in 2025 thwarted more than 20 Iranian rumors.
Iran is increasingly ordering the killings of European criminal gangs (Foxtrot, Rumba, Hells Angels, Russian mafia) – "I pay 1,000 euros for a image of a Jew's house" or "kill a journalist". Objective: deniability and inexpensive ‘gun meat’. Attacks on synagogues, Israeli embassies, Jews and opposition after October 7, 2023 increased significantly.
1992 Mykonos (Berlin) – the execution of 4 Iranian opposition Kurds by the IRGC. Multiple kidnappings and blackmails of dissidents.
In the 2025–2026 US, UK and respective EU countries issued a joint message condemning Iranian operations – "Iran outsources force to criminals to kill journalists, dissidents and Jews".
Iranian terrorism is not an "incident" but an informed strategy of the regime: destabilizing the mediate East by proxy, eliminating opposition abroad and attacking Israel/Jews/US. Soleimani was the face of this device – his death showed that the West could hit the heart of the system, but the IRGC inactive works (even after weakening the proxy in 2024-2025). Europe pays the price for tolerating Iranian "diplomats" and gangs – hundreds of thwarted assassinations and expanding number of processes.
The Ayatollah government has not changed since 1979. As long as the IRGC and the Quds Force be in its present form, Iranian terrorism will be a threat both in the mediate East and in the heart of Europe. The facts are clear – this is not propaganda, but documented judicial, intelligence and police activity of many countries.
