The Turks study that the rocket was launched from Iranian territory and passed through Iraqi and Syrian airspace. It was then shot down by NATO systems deployed in the east Mediterranean region. The remains were said to have fallen on the Dörtyol territory in the state of Hatay in northern Syria, right next to the border with Turkey. There were no casualties on the ground, nor was there any material damage.
