Iran reported that it successfully tested a 10 000 km-range ballistic missile, allowing it to attack the continental United States and Europe. These claims are disseminated by Tehran through media linked to the regime, including the news agency Tasnim.

According to the military portal DefenceSecurityAsia, the rocket launched from the Imam Chomeini cosmodrome located east of Tehran was to fly towards the East Siberian Sea after obtaining prior approval from the Kremlin to enter Russian airspace.

Information about the completed success of the test is besides distributed by Iranian parliamentarians and high-ranking representatives of the regime, including Mohsen Zanganeh, a associate of the Iranian Majlis (parliament), who publically stated: “We tested 1 of the state-of-the-art missiles in the country and this test ended successfully”.

Iranian officials had already been propaganda in September last year to inform that “America is about 10,000 km away, and we can lead our ships about 2,000 km distant from her and from there launch missiles that will hit Washington, fresh York and another American cities.”

So far the only proof of successful mission, in addition to the declaration, is simply a short movie recording the launch and first flight of the rocket posted on Facebook, but not precise erstwhile the test was carried out.

There is no independent verification or satellite photos confirming the successful rocket flight. According to DefenceSecurityAsia, Western intelligence and independent analysts are presently assessing the reliability of these pieces of information provided by Tehran.

If confirmed, they will be in charge of the historical escalation of Iran's strategical weapons program, which is essential for the United States' defence. And according to analysts dealing with the geopolitics of Iran from the regional power, it can turn into a serious player threatening not only the closest neighbours, but all real and imaginary enemies.

Iran surely now has systems, specified as Khorramshahr-4, which scope no more than 3,000 km and can cover the Gulf States, Israel and part of east Europe.

Iran is surely besides working on rockets intended for space missions. This was confirmed by the U.S. War Department last year, observing that specified programs in Iran are "by nature dual-use and undistinguished in the early stages", and Tehran's dissemination of information on trials with intercontinental rockets should be read as a informing – not only about abilities but about intentions.
