The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad called on Americans to leave the country as shortly as they could safely do so. Riots and demonstrations against the United States were given as a reason.
"US citizens in Iraq are powerfully advised to leave the country as shortly as they can do so safely and stay in place until conditions are safe until they leave. We ask you to supply yourself with food, water, medicines, and another essentials," said the embassy in Baghdad.
The facility warned Americans against violent riots against the US and calls for further demonstrations.
In erstwhile days, crowds of Iraqis gathered in the city, including during anti-American protests, and their mark was besides the US embassy. In response, Iraqi authorities closed the alleged green region in the state capital. It wasn't until Tuesday that the State Department ordered any embassy personnel to leave the country.
Al Jazeera tv reported that safety sirens were hailed at an American facility on Wednesday. U.S. bases in Iraq were besides repeatedly targeted by attacks by Iran and Shiite militias inside Iraq.
