Komar, Bee, Babie summertime – that's what they call simple, inexpensive and easy to produce drones developed by specialists from the Academy of Land Forces from Wrocław. They are expected to be utilized to train subjects, but they can besides be utilized by soldiers of linear divisions. 1 of them was presented in Biedrusek, during the conference "Trainer-25".

Unmanned were created as part of the Insect project. It assumed the creation of a universal platform that could be available in respective variants depending on the needs and service as a widely understood training of soldiers. – We assumed drones would be inexpensive and easy to produce. Based on a pattern that can be replicated at the level of military units themselves – explains Major Krzysztof Górski, Head of the Department of Computer discipline and Modern Technology in Wroclaw Land Army Academy. That's how Komar, Bee and Baby summertime came into being.
Drone frames are manufactured in 3D printing technology. “We usage the classical FDM method here,” explains Major Górski. Then the base platforms are retrofitted according to their assigned purpose. For example, the mosquito has a simple engine, a flight controller, a GPS device and an analog camera.
Unmanned can be utilized to learn piloting. Above all, however, it serves as an air goal for sub-terranean divisions that train the fight against BSP. – The drone can be controlled from a kilometer distance, it floats in the air for about 10 minutes. During this time, soldiers effort to hit it with smooth-bore weapons or Grot rifles – explains Major Górski.
Bees and Baby summertime at the basic level are besides designed to learn piloting, but their capabilities are far greater. Both unmanned are useful tools for tactical training. The bee is equipped with a HD camera and a discharge module to which an explosive weighing about 1 kilogram can be attached.
In turn, Babie summertime is easy to turn into a kamikaze drone. Just attach a half-pound warhead to it. The drone, unlike the another two, is controlled with 2 km long fibre optic. “This leaves it resistant to interference generated by radio-electronic countermeasures,” noted Major Górski.

Unmanned AWLs were presented in Biedrusk, on the occasion of the fresh Training conference-2025. Participants of a several-day gathering convened by the General Staff advised on how to effectively train soldiers of the Polish army. The gathering was accompanied by demonstrations at the camp. That's where the Poznań soldiers Centre for the Training of Land Forces They're in the eye with Komar.
The drone was released by the operator, soared into the air, rolled a ellipse over a close sub-chapter and began maneuvering respective twelve meters from it. The soldiers took positions behind peculiar shields, then opened fire. 1 of the volleys proved effective. The drone fell to the ground from a tallness of tens of meters. As it shortly turned out, the bullet pierced the drone's frame, caught on 1 of the engines and propellers. – The footwear needs to be replaced, but most of the another elements are recoverable. They can be utilized in the construction of another unmanned vessel – explains Major Górski.
The Insect task has not yet been closed and any of the solutions are under way. Dron Babie Summer, for example, has late passed his first trials. – We want to usage unmanned vehicles to train our subjects. However, it is besides worth considering making the strategy available to, for example, command stations or linear units, which could easy reproduce the stocks of drones themselves,' noted Major Górski.
According to the calculations of the authors of the project, the cost of producing a single Komara is about PLN 1.3 thousand. In the case of Bee, the amount increases to PLN 1.7 thousand, Babi Lata – up to PLN 2.5 thousand. The construction of the method base, which consists primarily of 3D printers, is an expenditure ranging from PLN 50 1000 (for FDM printing) to PLN 300 1000 (for powder printing).
