"Russia and the World: Enemies, competitors, partners" – the latest poll results were named the Moscow Public Opinion investigation Centre. It is not surprising, however, since the question: "Do you consider Russia to be a European state", 60% of the survey participants gave a negative answer... 42 percent of Russians consider Europe to be "a different civilization and a abroad world", and for 1 3rd it is only "the geographical name of countries that are west of Russia".

Ukraine was not on the list of enemies – the subject of aggression against it was not the subject of these investigation centres. However, his representatives confirm: during the 4 years of the war, support for the actions of the Russian army is unchangeable in society and is about 76%, as confirmed by the January survey of this year. And it is not even affected by shocking data about the losses that have already been incurred, which are more than 1 million killed and injured. Why? Lew Gudkov explains that the Russians have a “unambiguable” attitude towards victims, among whom there are many criminals and mercenaries, and their compassion is aroused alternatively only by those who have been mobilized for war. The degree of support for the war is not affected by problems in Russia, due to the fact that paradoxically, many of its inhabitants (especially from the province) have become rich in this war – thanks to soldiers' salaries and benefits for families participating in the alleged peculiar military operation. Even the retaliatory actions of Ukraine do not matter. “Yes, they have increased “terror and fear” among the inhabitants of the affected Russian regions, but at the same time caused an increase in “aggression towards the Ukrainian side”, explains Gudkov. And even though the “psychological fatigue” of war is increasing in society, which translates into the fact that 66% of Russians are in favour of peace talks, that is 1 nuance: they want peace on the terms of Russia. From a 4th to a 3rd of respondents want the war to proceed “until the winning end”, repeating Putin's rhetoric about “the death of concessions”.
