India has more than 2,000 combat BMP-2 infantry wagons. Due to the scope of traffic of the main weaponry in the elevation and its velocity of fire, the vehicle has limited capability to fire air targets. In practice, this is limited to helicopters in suspension and large unmanned aircraft at a low level. Due to the deficiency of an adequate fire control strategy and ammunition with programmed reaming, it is not possible to effectively fire tiny objects specified as multi-viral unmanned vehicles. To this end, in early December, the Indian Land Army announced a proceeding to acquisition 30 × 165 mm programmable ammunition for 2A42 automatic cannons utilized in BMP-2.
