According to a message by the Indonesian finance minister, Purbayi Yudhi Sadeva, the acquisition is expected to cost up to $9 billion. That's what Parliament had to book for the full investment. That's a lot, considering that it's a medium-sized 4 generation aircraft. In addition, purchased from a country which is not best suited (taking into account its overall potential) to handle arms exports and which may be peculiarly dependent on defeating Western producers on the market.
