On Sunday in Gdańsk there were celebrations commemorating the 45th anniversary of the August Agreements. 1 of the participants was president Karol Nawrocki. Due to his presence, Solidarity Square was secured by barriers.
Anyone who wanted to get closer to the symbolic gate no. 2 of Gdańsk Shipyard that day had to go through safety control. Among the people who were subjected to specified control was Danuta Wałęsa.
SOP apologizes to the erstwhile First Lady
After the inspection, SOP officers met with Danuta Walesa and apologized to the erstwhile First Lady. On Monday, the SOP issued an authoritative communication on this matter.
As stressed: "The State Protection Service is liable for ensuring the safety of the most crucial persons in the country, and 1 of its permanent tasks is to carry out pyrotechnic checks".
The organizers are liable for organising the participants' entry into the event, but at the time of the event the typical of the organiser was not present. Officer SOP, following the applicable safety procedures, conducted a pyrotechnic check on Lech Wałęsa's wife.
"Today the officers spoke to the erstwhile First woman and apologized for the situation. Mrs Danuta Wałęsa showed knowing of the actions taken and stressed that she did not have any resentment due to this" - we read in the Communication.

Piotr Adamowicz informed about the incidental by publishing an entry in social media: "President Nawrocki arrives in Gdańsk for the August ’80 celebration, and the SOP controls Mrs. Danuta Walesa. Sad..." A photograph from the event besides joined the post.
As we wrote in NaTemat.pl, 2 separate anniversary ceremonies were held in Gdańsk on Sunday 31 August, 1 with the participation of president Nawrocki, to whom TVN24 journalists were not allowed, and the other, organized by the city and the European Solidarity Centre, held at the historical gate of No. 2 Gdańsk Shipyard.
