The issue of retirement age is simply a very delicate subject. Its uplift in France sparked violent riots and protests, and in Poland could have been 1 of the reasons for the losing of the PO-PSL coalition in the 2015 election. There is no indication that something will change in this substance shortly - at least not for most citizens. However, the government plans to increase the retirement age for only 1 profession. It's about the bailiffs.

According to the draft amendment of the law on court bailiffs, court bailiffs and bailiffs would work longer. The proposed provisions presume their dismissal only after the age of 70 and not as at present – after 65. This means returning to rules before 2019.

The press release of the Ministry of Justice quoted Minister Adam Bodnar, who stated that he had called for a change of rules inactive as Ombudsman. The head of the Ministry of Justice assessed that after the 2018 changes, bailiffs are treated worse than judges.

The extension of the advanced age limit of the profession of bailiff and asessor is intended to be an adjustment of the rules prevailing in another legal professions. Notaries, for example, are appealed by the minister erstwhile they turn 70. The Judges shall be dismissed from office 5 years earlier unless they declare that they want to proceed the profession. The limit does not apply to lawyers and legal advisers who can work without restrictions.

"In the context of the designated legal professional groups, only bailiffs aged 65 must, in absolute terms, end their profession," wrote the ministry in its justification for the amendment of the bailiffs and court law.
