***Witold Pilecki pp. ‘Witold’, ‘Druh’; conspiratorial names ‘Roman Jezierski’, ‘Tomasz Serafiński’, ‘Leon Bryjak’, ‘Jan Uznański’, ‘Witold Smolinski’; codename T-IV (born 30 April? /13 May 1901 in Ołoniec, changed 25 May 1948 in Warsaw), captain of the Polish Army cavalry, co-founder of the Secret Polish Army, soldier of the National Army, prisoner and organizer of the opposition movement in Auschwitz.
Author of reports on the Holocaust, alleged Pilecki Reports. Accused and sentenced by the communist authorities of the People's Poland to death penalty, executed in 1948. It was not until 1990 that the judgement was annulled. In 2006, posthumously decorated with the Order of the White Eagle, he was promoted to Colonel in 2013.
Witold Pilecki is not only a hero volunteer to Auschwitz, a born soldier and a dry conspirator. This is not only a symbol of the courage that has been pushed to the limit, but besides an example of a romanticist end soul. fewer people associate Rotmaster with writing poems. So it is worth leaning over his sensitivity and literary or painting talent. He was an extraordinary man, serving others, as close associates considered a legend inactive alive. Is he a hero for our time?
