U.S. president Joe Biden announced for the first time publically that he would suspend the sale of parts of American weapons to Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu decides to launch a major invasion of the city of Rafah," CNN reports.
"Civils died in the Gaza Strip as a consequence of these bombs and another ways of attacking populated areas," said Biden, referring to bombs that US supplies stopped last week.
"I explained that if they enter Rafah – they have not yet entered Rafah – if they enter Rafah, I will not deliver the weapons that were utilized in the past in the fight in Rafah, to fight in the cities," the American president stressed.
According to CNN, it is crucial to note that Biden's statement, in which he expresses his willingness to make the supply of American weapons dependent on Israel's actions, is simply a turning point in the seven-month conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, expressed his disappointment on Thursday with US president Joe Biden's threat that the United States would hold military support for Israel if he decided to land offensive in the city of Rafah, Gaza.
