Central Election Register (CRW) is an electronic database containing information about all persons entitled to vote in Poland. It was established in 2023, replacing the earlier local electoral lists conducted by the municipalities.
Jego goal was improving the transparency of the electoral process and the elimination of problems related to the double registration of voters, which could have been the case, for example, in the case of persons who change their place of residence. This registry shall be kept by the Ministry of Digital Affairs in cooperation with the State Election Commission and shall be available to the electoral authorities.
CRW data are not public, but any citizen can check his/her data and verify the place of voting through the municipal office or government e-services.
How many Poles can vote in the 2025 election?
As the State Electoral Commission informs, the electoral registry includes only persons who are permanently resident in the area of the municipality afraid and who have electoral rights. As of December 31, 2024, it is 28 945 200 citizens. That's more than initially assumed. This is due, among others, to demographic changes, registration of fresh voters and update data in the Central registry of Voters.
Several factors have affected the increase in the number of voters:
- reaching adulthood by fresh electoral yearbooks – the list includes persons who have been 18 years old since the erstwhile election,
- return of migrants,
- The elimination of errors from erstwhile censuses (CRW allowed to specify more precisely the number of citizens entitled to vote).
How do you test your attendance in the electoral register?
Any citizen can check their data in the Central registry of Voters to guarantee that they are on the electoral list and at which polling venue they should vote. You can do that. personally at the municipal office (just study to the appropriate office with your ID) or via the net – forvia ePUAP platform or mCitizen app.

Thanks to the CRW, it is no longer essential to study a change in voting place in case of removal – the strategy automatically updates the data based on the report.
Can Poles surviving abroad vote?
Polish citizens staying abroad besides have the right to vote. They can do so at the electoral station at the embassy or consulate (a list of places where they can vote before the elections is published) or by collecting a certificate of voting rights – this paper allows to vote anywhere in Poland or abroad.
It is worth noting, however, that in order to vote outside the country, specified an intention should be notified in advance to the applicable diplomatic post.
What does a higher number of voters mean?
A higher number of persons entitled to vote may translate into more attendance, and this in turn affects the final result of the election.
In 2020, turnout in the second circular of the presidential election was 68.18 percent. Will there be a fresh evidence in 2025? The final consequence depends on the mobilisation of society and the interest in the election campaign.
