National Intelligence manager Tulsi Gabbard declassified on Friday 229 files with papers on the execution of erstwhile lawyer General and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy. His son, wellness Minister Robert F, praised the decision. Kennedy Jr., who questions the authoritative version of the assassination.
The tranche of leaked papers consists of 229 files containing more than 10,000 pages. These include FBI investigation materials, diplomatic correspondence and condolences from abroad embassies.
"Almost 60 years after the tragic assassination of Senator Robert F. Kennedy, the American nation will first have the chance to learn about the national government's investigation through president Trump's leadership," Gabbard noted in a statement. "My squad is honored that the president has entrusted us with the management of declassified activities and to throw long-awaited light on the truth," she added.
Son of killed politician Robert F. Kennedy Jr., however, stated that the disclosure of "RFK papers is an essential step towards restoring assurance in the US government".
His father was shot at a hotel in Los Angeles in 1968, just after giving a speech after winning the Democratic primary in California. Kennedy ran for organization nomination in the presidential election.
According to authoritative investigation results, the perpetrator was Palestinian Sirhan Sirhan acting as part of a protest against Kennedy's support for Israel. However, his boy repeatedly questioned these findings, accusing the execution of Kennedy Thane Cesar's bodyguard, now surviving in the Philippines. Kennedy Jr. suggested that Cesar could have done it on behalf of the CIA, and Sirhan was active in the case without his guilt.
Sirhan confessed to the execution and received his sentence, but later, in 2003, his lawyer claimed that he was under hypnosis during his testimony. In 2021, the convict was granted parole from prison, but it was blocked by California politician Gavin Newsom. Kennedy Jr. supported Sirhan's release.
Declassified papers on the RFK is another akin step by Donald Trump after he completely declassified the remainder of the archives concerning the assassination of president John F. Kennedy. Trump besides ordered the release of papers about the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., although this has not yet happened.
