In dealing inevitably with the ubiquitous and increasingly exuberant tandem – political, intellectual, cultural, spiritual, etc. – 1 can yet submit to 1 of the 2 fatal choices, or capitulate before this tandem and admit that possibly it is not so bad with it, or capitulate against bitter defetism that the only reliable way to defend his own dignity is voluntary interior exile.
There is, of course, another alternative, which is to keep in head that the ability to admit tandem and feel discomfort in contact with it demonstrates the existence of timeless quality standards. With this awareness, it is then possible to identify the various exemplary manifestations of these standards and to proceed with them as with the indestructible rock, assuming the function of guards and beneficiaries of their unfailingly encouraging influence.
In another words, quoting classics over classics, apart from giving in to the planet and escaping it can besides be in the world, but not from the world. Only then, by combining distant abstinence and assertive courage, can interior freedom and interior peace be preserved and even radiated outwardly, even though the outside seemed completely unpromising in this context. Only then can 1 be certain that it has become on the only side that is incapable to lose.
