The past of our Homeland is marked by the conflict for freedom and independency of Poland and Poles. As a nation that never gave up, we repeatedly resisted those who tried to enslave us. The Warsaw Uprising broke out on 1 August 1944. The revolt of the inhabitants of Warsaw against the German occupier lasted 63 days – tens of thousands of Poles and Poles incurred the highest price in the conflict for freedom. It was the largest act of opposition in Europe's Nazi occupation. Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki celebrated the heroism and memory of the fallen on the 79th anniversary of the Uprising.
