Simon Holovnia, Deputy talker of the Sejm and candidate for UNHCR, commented on the decision of Secretary General Antonio Guterres to elect Barham Ahmed Salih. The Holovnia expressed surprise, pointing out that the candidacy of the erstwhile Iraqi president had prevailed at the expense of Europe, suggesting that the mediate East should now be in charge of exile policy. Despite his defeat, Holovnia thanked Polish diplomacy for fighting for a global table and announced that he would now focus on learning languages.
