Marshal of the Sejm Szymon Holovnia admitted that Poland left millions of people on the margins of large changes. In a speech on the 1000th anniversary of Bolesław Chrobry's coronation, he called for the correction of the mistakes of the past.
During the millennium celebration of the coronation of the first king of Poland in Gnieźno, MPs and Senators gathered. Among the speakers was the talker of the Sejm Simon Holovnia, who spoke about the responsibilities of the modern generation and problems of systemic transformation.
– We must humbly note to our ancestors today, before their generations' courts, that leaving millions of people outside the margin of large Polish changes, is the large responsibility of a generation of breakthroughs said the Hołównia.
“The inheritance of poorness is our shame”
The politician stressed that the effects of the 1990s negligence are inactive felt. – The responsibility that it is advanced time to fix, due to the fact that the harm then done passes from generation to generation. The full areas of poorness and exclusion at all level: material, educational, communication, is our large shame – he said.
Hołownia pointed out that Poland is simply a strong and modern state today, but inactive faces inequality. He called for the abolition of "unnecessary and stupid rules" and for greater support for those excluded.
"Development must be uniform"
The Marshal of the Sejm opposed the concentration of investment only in large cities, ignoring smaller towns and agrarian areas. – The next generations are to mention us as those who have provided Poland with an even development. What does that mean? Who left them a country of equal opportunity, not a banana republic. He stressed.
The Holovnia besides criticised a short-sighted approach to politics, focusing on ad hoc solutions before the elections. – It is time to halt yet patching up the problems of decades with one-off shares, solutions sewn for subsequent elections. These are things per generation, not per term. – he said.
“We screwed up. And now we gotta fix it”
The politician admitted that the state did not take full advantage of the chance given by the transformation. – Yeah, we screwed up here. Not us citizens, due to the fact that I think we've truly done more than anyone would have thought. But we, the state, are. And now we gotta fix it. And not reasoning about May 2025 or fall 2027. But with our children and our grandchildren in mind – finished.
