The authoritative website of the Ministry of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands presents a brief past of changes in Dutch aviation over the past decades. As we read, in 1979 F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft replaced F-104 Starfighter, and after any time besides NF-5 (Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighter) aircraft. In total, during these years, the Netherlands was in possession of more than 200 F-16s, with around 60 remaining in the line at the end of their service. Currently, fighters are being transferred to Ukraine, Kiev is expected to receive at least 24-30 aircraft for operational usage (the first already delivered), and another 18 are to be utilized for training. Others may constitute a reserve or alleged renovation budget.
