At least 20 people were detained by the Spanish police by Sunday evening in connection with an investigation into the legalising grid of illegal immigrants in that country, she transmitted SIC television.
According to information provided by the Spanish police services, a criminal group operating in respective regions of the country legalised immigrants mainly on the basis of falsified documents.
The investigation established that any of the imported immigrants were being misled due to the fact that they received papers from which they could not only legally stay in Spain but besides take up work.
Police estimation that for bringing and legalising immigrants, mainly from Africa, the criminal group charged between 5,000 and 10,000 euros per person. As part of this amount, gang members besides promised foreigners work in Spain. Migrants who paid the gang's largest amounts usually went to agricultural plantations in Andalusia, confederate Spain.
