Despite statements made by the White home that may be the consequence of “disinformation”, Spain will not let U.S. bases to be utilized in the south of the country to attack Iran," stated Spain's defence minister Margarita Robles in an interview with Cadena SER radio.
Robles reiterated that despite American pressures, the Spanish government would not consent to the usage of 2 bases in the south of the country – the sea in Rota and the air in Moron – for US action against Iran.
"The position of the Spanish Government (on the war in Iran) was coherent and very clear from the outset. No nuances, categorical. From an ethical and legal point of view, we are doing the right thing – said the minister.
Robles suggested that the Wednesday message of White home spokesperson Karoline Leavitt that the government in Madrid agreed to cooperate with the American military could have been the consequence of “disinformation”.
