There has been an unprecedented demographic change in India. The fertility rate in the most populous country in the planet has fallen for the first time in the past of measurements below the substitutability level of generations and is now 1.9 – according to a national SRS survey. A fewer decades ago, it reached 5.2, which shows the scale and pace of social change in the country.
