History and Historical Politics

History is based on facts. Both pleasant and not pleasant. It is based on fact (as far as we can find it). It shows that the planet was not and is not black and white. It's not even in different grey colors, but it's colorful. People aren't just criminals or lit up, but they're a mix. Besides, 1 individual can be a criminal erstwhile and a hero once. Or be both, depending on who you ask.

Historical policy is based on a lie. You usually whitewash your own Nation and slander others. A black-and-white image of the planet and people is drawn. It's fake and it's damaging. For he who does not know past is doomed to repeat mistakes (his or others').

Among Poles during WŚ II were heroes and criminals. Often, too, people themselves have committed heroic acts, another crimes. Most, however, were just trying to survive. At the same time, it should be remembered that Poles from the times of the Second Polish Republic were highly diverse in terms of nationality, religion and society. And they lived in highly hard times.
In all Nation there were, there are and will be heroes and just and criminals. At the same time, no Nation is elected or holy. Look at Israel. Jews were victims of anti-Semitism and during the Second WWW victims of the Holocaust. The Nazis locked them in ghettos. They led to starvation and murder. Today, the Jews imprisoned the Palestinians in the ghetto (Gaza), sentenced them to starvation and killed the Palestinians. A nation that is the victim of crimes against humanity, present itself commits crimes against humanity.

In my individual opinion, it is the work of all Patriot to know and realize the past of Poland and Europe. Remember the honorable moments and deeds (and be arrogant of them) but besides know of the moments and deeds of disgrace or shame. A actual patriot can be ashamed of his mistakes Fatherland or erstwhile the actions of its fellow citizens are unworthy. This is what distinguishes patriotism from blind nationalism and allows liable building a better future for the country. This attitude is characterized by love for the homeland, coupled with a critical view of its weakness and willingness to change for the better. As Prof. Karol Modzelewski said: "The shame is simply a symptom of patriotic feelings. If I am caught up in something that Poles did, it means that I have a bond with them." If individual denies the mistakes of Poland or the unworthy actions of another Poles is not a actual Patriot.
The slogan "the pedagogy of shame" was invented to lie past and hide the truth. Uncomfortable, painful but true. due to the fact that if individual doesn't know and realize past and historical processes, they can be easy controlled and manipulated.
The same is actual of organizations. any people sweep dirt under the carpet, fight signalers, etc., as if protecting the organization. Others stand in fact and fight evil.
"The fact will set you free" but it will hurt. But how it hurts means you're alive.
