Since the start of the Russian invasion, Budapest's policy has broken out of Europe's solidarity discourse of supporting a struggling Ukraine. Hungarian diplomacy chief Peter Szijjarto has arrived in Moscow to negociate additional gas supplies, obscuring himself at the beginning of talks “as shortly as possible” on the conclusion of peace in Ukraine.
