W The Marshal's Office of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship in Toruń, in the presence of Marshal Piotr Calbecki, held a gala dedicated to honorary blood donors. It was awarded medals and distinctions for people who deserved in a unique way to save the wellness and life of others. Among the winners were 4 soldiers and 1 civilian worker of the 8th Kujawsko-Pomorskie Territorial Defence Brigade.
Deserved Transplant Donor
One of the distinguished soldiers has a peculiar contribution to save the wellness and life of others. To date, he has given over 20 litres of blood, and late became an honorary bone marrow donor. Myelogen and haematopoietic stem cells donated by peripheral blood donation will aid a individual in request from another country. For this last, peculiarly valuable donation, he received the badge "Deserved Transplant Donor".
St. Wide. Krzysztof is simply a soldier of the Medical safety squad of 8.K-PBOT. As a medical lifeguard, he cares about the wellness and safety of soldiers, securing medically, among others, shooting and polygon training. His conduct shows that his military service and concern for others are besides close to him outside his service hours.
Joint initiative for the benefit of the public
In the 8th K-PBOT serves respective employees of the Marshal Office. Among another things, on their initiative in March 2023, the Honorary Blood Donors Club was established at the Marshal's Office of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship, which brings together 28 officials and 17 brigade soldiers.
Brigade soldiers have been giving blood since the beginning of its existence. Honorary donations are organised on many occasions, including at the end of rotational trainings. The bloodbus was besides present during the 6th Kuyavian-Pomeranian feast of territories in August of this year, who for 6 years of the existence of the brigade donated more than 1000 l of blood as part of more than 2200 donations. These figures are steadily increasing, thanks to initiatives which are actively supported by Deputy Commander of the Brigade by Colonel Marcin Piwowarczyk. Promoting honorary blood donation contributes to expanding the number of donors among soldiers.
Solemn minute for honoring blood donors
During the gala, peculiar thanks were sent to many years of honorary blood donors who contributed to support thousands of patients in request of transfusions. The speeches highlighted the invaluable function of blood donors and bone marrow donors in the wellness system. It was recalled that all drop of blood and all decision to donate the bone marrow was not only a rescue for the sick, but besides a model of human attitude and solidarity among people.
Among the awarded badges "Deserved Honorary Blood Donor" from 8.K-PBOT in addition to st. wide. Christopher found himself:
1. Deputy Brigadier General Marcin Piwowarczyk - 1st degree badge;
2nd chor. Jacek - 3rd degree badge;
3rd St. Peter - second degree badge;
4. p. Oksana - grade 3 badge.
The awards were presented by the Vice-President of the Polish Red Cross Zbigniew Klawczyński and the head of the PCK regional branch in Toruń.
