Hamas handed over on Thursday to the Red Cross the bodies of 4 hostages kidnapped from Israel on 7 October 2023. According to the announcement, these are to be the corpses of Shiri Bibas and her 2 young children, Ariel and Kfir, and Oded Lifszic, a writer and peace activist who besides had Polish citizenship.
Four black coffins were handed over in the town of Chan Junus in the south of the Gaza Strip, where hundreds of residents and dozens of armed masked militants gathered.
The Red Cross staff are to transport the body to 1 of the Israeli bases in the Gaza Strip, where a brief mourning ceremony will take place. The bodies will then be transported to 1 of Israel's medical facilities.
Hamas' release of the remains of hostages is part of a temporary truce between Israel and Hamas in Gaza since 19 January.(PAP)
