There have been protests in Tbilisi for respective weeks in connection with the government's effort to adopt the alleged "foreign agents" bill. According to the project, legal persons and media organisations, which get more than 20 percent of their yearly income from abroad, will be considered entities acting on behalf of abroad authorities. In addition, according to the fresh guidelines, they will besides be monitored by the Ministry of Justice and thus may be forced to supply confidential information under the threat of severe financial penalties up to 25,000 GEL (about 9 400 USD/37 000 PLN).
