We kindly ask for financial support for our WB24.org portal, which has served for 4 years as an independent voice of Poles from Belarus, providing up-to-date information from the lives of our compatriots and promoting the culture and past of the Polish-Belarusian borderlands and the erstwhile east Borderlands.
We are the only Polish portal in the East that does not receive no grants and is forced to persist solely through support donors. Despite highly hard conditions, the deficiency of assistance from the Polish State and the real risks associated with our work, we accomplish comparable results, and frequently better than many subsidised border and polonian portals.
Our results talk for themselves:
- Last year the number of page views increased by 426%, and the number of fresh users 378%which gave a full of over 140,000 views,
- Our Facebook fanpage watches around 10,000 peoplewhich makes us the leader among the Polish media in Belarus.
Only 2 national news portals in Polish, of which only 1 receives permanent funding. For comparison, in Lithuania – where the Polish community is little many – there are 9 portals, 6 periodicals, 2 radio stations and TVP Vilnius.
Lack of financial support from state institutions seriously threatens the continued functioning of our portal. That's why we're addressing States with a request for aid that will let us to proceed and develop mission to Poland in Belarus.
