In the first half of 2026, 235 attempts were recorded at the Polish-Belarusian border. As the Ministry of Interior and Administration reported, no of them succeeded. This is simply a extremist change to the situation a year ago erstwhile there were over 15.5 1000 in the same trial period.
A decline in thousands
The data that the Ministry of abroad Affairs published in the communication on the X platform shows the scale of the change on the east section of the border. In the first six months of last year, the service reported more than 15.5 1000 attempts at illegal crossing. This year, in the same period, there were 235 of them, respective twelve times fewer.
The Ministry stressed that there was no effective, uncontrolled border crossing this year. Each effort resulted in a reversal or a halt, as the ministry presents as proof of the tightness of the border line.
Electronic barrier and barrier
An infrastructure expansion at the border is behind the decline. In the Podlaskie Voivodeship there was a steel dam with a tallness of 5.5 metres, extending for 186 kilometres. It is complemented by an electronic barrier, covering a full of more than 200 kilometres, including river sections. A separate sensor strategy was extended over Bug in Ljubljana, over a distance of 172 kilometres.
According to the ministry, about PLN 3 billion was allocated to safe the border. This combination of physical obstacle and the electronic layer is expected to catch attempts to pass even before the patrols face migrant groups.
Pressure and erstwhile years
Statistics form a clear downward trend. In 2023, about 12 1000 people arrived without stopping in Poland, about 5 1000 a year later, and 1.7 1000 in 2025. This year's data is the next step in the same direction.
However, the east border remains a delicate point. Belarus has been treating the migration movement as a tool of force for respective years, targeting the border line of a group of foreigners. In this situation, the tightness of the border becomes not only a substance of statistics, but a test of the state's resilience to external pressures.
