Latvia does not intend to mitigate safety measures at the border with Belarus. The government in Riga decided to extend the enhanced border protection strategy until the end of 2026, arguing for a decision that persists in migratory force and risks arising from hybrid activities carried out by Minsk. According to data from the Latvian Ministry of the Interior only in the first half of this year more than 6.7 1000 attempts to illegally cross the Latvian-Belarusian border were thwarted.
