A study by the Center for global Environmental Law (CIEL) reveals that the governments of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, Australia, Germany, Norway, and Russia have been aware of the threat that burning fossil fuels poses to the climate since at least the mid-20th century.
